Broadcast video systems can use streaming or some type of data storage with content being pushed or pulled at the player end. With video streaming systems, you need sufficient bandwidth and constant connections to ensure proper playback. The other solution involves a content distribution system that stores data at the player end, protecting from interruptions if there is loss of connectivity. There are two main types of content distribution systems: push and pull. Push systems are more vulnerable to hacking because the player responds to instructions from its server. The pull system is safer because it’s the player that initiates a connection at a preset interval and it only processes what is meant to be displayed based on the instructions packaged with the update. The Navori Tycoon digital signage system uses a pull methodology so there is never any direct communication between the server and the players. Players communicate at a preset interval and process encrypted instructions to protect the integrity of the content being displayed.
