| Navori Extended Watchdog v5.2 is an optional module for PCs running Navori Player v5.2.
The application runs in background and performs the following tasks:
- Ensures Navori Player is running within specific parameters.
- Ensures the Player PC is communicating properly and alerts the administrator if it is not.
- Communicates the following information back to the Navori Server in near real-time*:
- Which Playlist is currently running on the Player.
- The following Windows parameters: Available RAM, Handles, GDI and Threads.
- Displays a visual alert if Player is not communicating properly or if it has exceeded any of the preset memory parameters.
- Sends out an e-mail alert in case problem cannot be resolved and describes the nature of the issue.
Navori Extended Watchdog monitors the health of your Player PC. If any of the memory parameters exceed a preset limit, Extended Watchdog will begin the following troubleshooting cycle:
- Extended Watchdog will restart the Navori Player application up to 3 times (if necessary). During the application restart process, the Navori Player splash screen will be suppressed in order to preserve the integrity of the material being displayed.
- If the problem cannot be resolved by an application restart, Navori Extended Watchdog will reboot the Player PC.
- If the problem is still not resolved, Navori Extended Watchdog will launch the Navori Player application one last time.
- In the event these steps have failed to resolve the issue, the Player PC will be left running at the Windows Desktop and an email will be sent to a predefined address.
Potential issues can occur when PCs display some type of content over time. This can destabilize the PC and eventually cause lockups or crashes. To prevent these situations, Navori Extended Watchdog attempts to restore the PCs integrity before major problems occur. Our application tracks the state of several key Windows parameters and takes action if levels exceed a specific threshold. By performing the various steps described above, Navori Extended Watchdog ensures your Players are always operating at peak performance, regardless of the content that is being displayed.
With Navori Extended Watchdog installed on your Players, Navori Server administrators are always kept up to date on the health of each PC. If an alert is detected, a visual cue will highlight the affected Player. When the problem is resolved, the status is automatically updated making false alerts very unlikely.
